Feel your best on Valentine's Day

Love is in the air….and so is RED LIPSTICK! With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I wanted to write a post on how to choose the perfect red lipstick for your skin tone. I have provided some examples for each skin tone but please note, I chose the lipsticks for fair and dark skin purely off research. The examples for medium/bronze skin are the ones I own and love :)

Fair Skin

If you have fair skin, you want to stick to bright reds with cool/blue undertones. This will add some vibrancy and color to light/porcelain skin. Some great examples of these lip colors are:

Medium/Bronze Skin

For medium/bronze skin, you want to go with lip colors with a burgundy base. This will add tons of intensity to your lips without the worry of looking too "vampy." This skin tone is pretty versatile so you can also go a bit lighter and stick to raspberry reds. Some great examples for this are:

I have both of these products and they are great alternatives to the traditional bright red lipstick and would complement medium skin perfectly.

Dark skin

If you have darker skin, deep reds with berry undertones are the way to go! When choosing a specific lipstick, make sure to swatch them and test their pigmentation. The more pigmented they are, the more they will pop on darker skin. Some lipstick examples are:

Keep in mind these are just recommendations and that you can always mix and match lip colors. I use the NARS Scarlet Empress lip color all the time and it works great on my skin tone! However, since I have slightly lighter skin, it is pretty intense so it's not a great day-time color for me. The best advice I can give is to figure out your skin tone, your undertone color and then choose lip colors. If you are unsure on how to determine your undertone color, take a look at the graphic below :)
